Joss High Performance BREAK Shaft

The Joss High Performance BREAK Shaft combines the traditional feel of wood with the stiffness and control needed for a powerful break.

It features Joss low-deflection technology to help reduce cue-ball deflection and improve accuracy.
The system is installed in the front of the shaft to reduce front-end mass.

Low-Deflection Front-End Construction

An important part of this system is the ½-inch Joss ferrule.
It is designed to remain stable during impact and minimize unwanted flex.

The ferrule is threaded onto the wood and secured with an expanding adhesive.
This creates a strong, solid connection between the ferrule and shaft.

The construction also helps reduce unwanted vibration. As a result, the shaft provides a solid and consistent feel from one break to the next.

Conical Taper

Unlike a traditional pro taper, the Joss High Performance BREAK Shaft uses a conical taper.
The shaft gradually increases in diameter toward the joint.

This design provides additional stiffness and stability during braking.
It also helps transfer energy efficiently from the cue to the cue ball.

The combination of the conical taper and Joss low-deflection technology provides excellent cue-ball control.
This can be especially important when using draw, follow, or sidespin on the break.

Traditional Joss Construction

The Joss High Performance BREAK Shaft uses a traditional brass insert with our standard 5/16 x 14 joint.
Joss has used this proven joint construction for decades.

The shaft is finished with a Joss Premium Black super-hard layered tip.
Its hardness provides the firm hit and efficient energy transfer needed for breaking.

The layered construction also provides excellent chalk retention and helps the tip maintain its shape.
