The Joss High Performance BREAK Shaft combines the traditional feel of wood with Joss low-deflection technology for a powerful, controlled break.
A ½-inch Joss ferrule, low-deflection front-end package, and conical taper work together to provide increased stiffness, stability, and consistent energy transfer. The shaft is finished with a Joss Premium Black super-hard layered tip for excellent chalk retention and a firm, solid hit.
The HP BREAK features a traditional 5/16 x 14 brass insert and is designed for players who want the feel of a wood shaft with modern high-performance construction.

Joss High Performance BREAK Shaft
The Joss High Performance BREAK Shaft was developed to combine the traditional feel of a wood shaft with the stiffness, control, and low-deflection characteristics needed for a powerful, accurate break.
The HP BREAK features a low-deflection package installed in the front of the shaft to reduce front-end mass and help control cue-ball deflection.
An important part of that system is the ½-inch Joss ferrule. The ferrule is designed to remain stable upon impact and minimize unwanted flex when it contacts the cue ball.
The ferrule is both threaded onto the wood and secured with an expanding adhesive. This construction creates a tight, solid connection between the ferrule and shaft, helping eliminate unwanted vibration and providing a consistent feel from one break to the next.
Conical Taper
Unlike a traditional pro taper, the HP BREAK uses a conical taper. The shaft gradually increases in diameter toward the joint, creating additional stiffness and stability for the break.
The combination of the conical taper and Joss low-deflection front-end construction is designed to deliver efficient energy transfer while giving the player greater control over the cue ball.
That control can be particularly important when using draw, follow, or sidespin on the break.
