The Gorget©ferrule is an integral part of any low-deflection high-performance shaft.
The Gorget©Joss ferrule is designed not to flex when in contact with the cue ball.
This ferrule is attached to the shaft with an expanding adhesive and threaded onto the wood.
This technique gives the most secure hit and feel of any shaft.
Our tests show that the ferrule will hinge toward the shaft, not away from it, when the cue ball is hit with English.
If the ferrule is not fastened tightly against the shaft, you will experience vibrations, which will be different each time you hit the ball. You will never be able to judge the shot accurately.

The Joss Kielwood HP Dash Ring combines Joss HP low-deflection technology with the distinctive characteristics of heat-treated Kielwood.
It offers players modern shaft performance while preserving the natural feedback, sound, and feel of wood.
As a result, it provides an excellent choice for players who want lower deflection without switching to carbon fiber.
Kielwood undergoes a specialized heat-treatment process that changes the wood’s characteristics.
Therefore, it provides a distinctive playing experience compared with a traditional maple shaft.
Joss Kielwood HP Dash Ring Performance
I built the Joss Kielwood HP Dash Ring with our HP front-end construction to reduce front-end mass and cue-ball deflection.
Consequently, players can use sidespin with less compensation than they may need with many traditional shaft designs.
Moreover, I designed the shaft to maintain the solid feedback and familiar response that many players prefer from wood.
Traditional Joss Dash Ring
The dash ring gives the shaft a traditional Joss appearance and allows it to complement compatible Joss cues.
In addition, each shaft comes equipped with an Ultra Skin medium Fire for dependable performance, good chalk retention, and consistent shape.
