It is a loose interpretation of a ship’s keel that is considered the backbone.

The Kielwood Joss HP shaft is crafted from Canadian hard rock Maple, which has undergone “torrefaction.”

This process is a specialized curing and drying process that alters the characteristics of the Maple.
The result is a unique caramel color, as any moisture and sugars are removed. This makes it lighter, more warp-resistant, and with superior strength and stiffness.

This shaft is a playing shaft, not intended as a break shaft.

The ferrule is an integral part of any low-deflection high-performance shaft.
The Joss Gorget^© ferrule is designed not to flex when in contact with the cue ball.

Our tests show that the ferrule will hinge toward the shaft, not away from it, when the cue ball is hit with English.
