A Legacy Inspired by Dan Janes
Dan Janes was a highly influential figure in cue making, and the Legacy Series represents a special part of his legacy. Throughout his career, Dan combined functionality with aesthetics, creating cues that performed at the highest level while remaining true works of art.
The Legacy Series showcases designs introduced between 1983 and 1991.
During this period, Dan refined every detail of his craft while developing cues that met the demands of serious players.
As a result, these models capture an important era in American cue-making history.
His dedication earned recognition in two prestigious halls of fame:
- 2003 American Cue Makers Association Hall of Fame
- 2013 International Cue Makers Association Hall of Fame
In addition, the American Cue Makers Association honored Dan with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.
Today, collectors and players continue to seek out these designs because they represent the craftsmanship, creativity, and innovation that helped shape modern cue making.
The Inspiration Behind the LS85-15
Dan’s inspiration for the LS85-15 began in the mid-1970s.
We have maintained this design for decades because of its intricate beauty and timeless appeal.
The cue immediately captures attention with its vibrant colors, elegant inlays, and refined details.
More importantly, every design element works together to create a cue that excels both as a playing instrument and as a work of art.
Elegant Design and Intricate Inlays
The LS85-15 begins with a stainless-steel joint that we hand-polish to a mirror finish for durability, performance, and visual appeal.
The forearm features five distinct points, each accented with three vibrant colors.
This classic design element remains a hallmark of many high-end custom cues because it creates exceptional depth and visual movement.
Ebony centers provide bold contrast against the lighter maple and colorful veneers.
Consequently, the cue achieves a striking yet balanced appearance.
The points are inlaid into premium curly maple, a wood prized for its beautiful wavy grain pattern and natural depth.
Furthermore, each point features faux ivory arrowheads that add elegance and sophistication while highlighting the craftsmanship of the inlay work.
A hand-pressed Irish linen wrap completes the cue.
Not only does it provide a secure grip and smooth stroke, but it also preserves the traditional feel that serious players have trusted for generations.
Decorative stitching details further enhance the cue’s luxury appearance and showcase the attention to detail that defines the Legacy Series.
Built for Championship Performance
While the LS85-15 stands out visually, its performance truly sets it apart.
This model features a full-core construction that extends from the butt plate to the joint.
Therefore, the cue offers increased stability and improved resistance to warpage.
In addition, the core delivers a solid, one-piece feel and dependable hit that players expect from Joss Cues.
The result is exceptional feedback, confidence, and consistency on every shot.

There is no better cue made today.
